LTE: Pharmacists Play An Important Role

Do you know who your pharmacist is? For many, the answer is likely no. In fact, even though they play an important role in so many people’s lives, seeing hundreds of faces each day, they are often underappreciated.

Another thing you may not have realized is that Oct. 16-22 was National Pharmacy Week, which serves as a good time to thank your local pharmacist for the work they do for both your healthcare and the community.

Beyond healthcare, pharmacists play an important role as one of the first deterrents in the process of meth production. They use the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx) to track and block the purchase of cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine (PSE), which is the ingredient needed to make meth, in medicines like Claritin-D and Sudafed.
