There are a lot of people who play an important role in our health care process, from doctors and nurses to emergency responders. But, there are a group of health care providers who we interact with the most, but rarely get the credit they deserve. Of course, I am speaking of our thousands of Illinois pharmacists.
As October is American Pharmacists Month, I want to thank the pharmacists in Illinois who play another unheralded role — they are the first line of defense against people who try to illegally use cold and allergy medicine containing pseudoephedrine (PSE), such as Mucinex-D and Advil Cold and Sinus, to make meth.
