Letter: Don’t further restrict cold, allergy meds

As the operator of pharmacies inside County Market, including those in Springfield and across Illinois, I urge lawmakers not to restrict cold and allergy medicine sales even further.

With the current drug crisis spreading across the country, lawmakers are increasingly trying new ways in which they can restrict the sale of pseudoephedrine (PSE), commonly found in allergy and cold medicine but also used in the production of meth. As the use of meth continues to occur across our state, I urge our lawmakers to find an appropriate balance between patient access to over-the-counter medications and minimizing the illegal manufacturing and sale of methamphetamine.
