Representative David Frizzell Statement on Passage of HB 1157

3.9.16– PRNewswire

Representative David Frizzell (R – Indianapolis) released the following statement today after his legislation banning the sale of medicines containing pseudoephedrine to known drug offenders, House Bill 1157, was sent to Governor Mike Pence.

“I commend the House and Senate members of the conference committee for agreeing to send House Bill 1157, a proven approach to addressing and reducing meth labs incidents, to Governor Pence for his signature. HB 1157 gives law enforcement the tools to better track, block and prevent convicted drug offenders from purchasing medicines containing pseudoephedrine (PSE) which could be diverted to make meth. This is a real solution that will limit the production of meth, while ensuring law-abiding citizens have access to safe and effective medicine containing PSE, such as Claritin-D and Advil Cold and Sinus, in order to treat their cold and allergy symptoms. The meth epidemic in our state cannot be solved overnight, but this will get us one step closer. I encourage the Governor to move quickly and sign HB 1157.”
