Business News in Brief: Retailers Association Applauds NPLEX

The West Virginia Retailers Association recently released the first-quarter data from the state’s real-time, stop-sale pseudoephedrine tracking system, the National Precursor Log Exchange, or NPLEx.

According to a press release, in the first quarter of 2015, NPLEx blocked the sale of 1,486 boxes, totaling almost 4,000 grams of pseudoephedrine from being illegally purchased.

NPLEx serves as a tool in the collaboration between retailers and law enforcement officers to track and stop the sale of medicines containing pseudoephedrine to those who criminally misuse the medicine, while ensuring that the consumers who need it most continue to have access to these medicines.
