Anti-Meth Bill Would Stop Major Supply For Meth Labs

INDIANAPOLIS – Two state senators want to crack down on methamphetamine in Indiana.
State Senators R. Michael Young (R-Indianapolis) and Carlin Yoder (R-Middlebury) plan to introduce Senate Bill 536 Monday. It would stop anyone with a methamphetamine conviction from buying ephedrine or pseudoephedrine.
Many “mom-and-pop” meth labs will buy over-the-counter cold and allergy medications that contain ephedrine or pseudoephedrine to use as their base ingredients. To cut off that supply option, this bill would require courts to report methamphetamine related convictions to the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx).
