Letters: NPLEX Is A Good Tool In Drug Fight

7.13.15 – Rep. Mike Moon, Springfield News-Leader

Missouri has been on the front lines in the fight against meth and thankfully much progress has been made.

One of the reasons for the success has been the state’s implementation of the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx) — a system that monitors pseudoephedrine purchase in 31 states across the country. In the first quarter of 2015, the system prevented the sale of 4,390 boxes of PSE, preventing 11,401 grams of PSE from potentially getting in the hands of criminals with the intent of making meth. Recently, local leaders in our part of the state attended a demonstration on how NPLEx works and is utilized in the fight against meth.
