West Virginia Retailers Association Applauds The Success Of NPLEx In The First Quarter Of 2015

6.18.15 –West Virginia Retailers Association

CHARLESTON, W.Va., June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The West Virginia Retailers Association today releases the first quarter data from the state’s real-time, stop-sale pseudoephedrine (PSE) tracking system, the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx).

In the first quarter of 2015, NPLEx blocked the sale of 1,486 boxes, totaling almost 4,000 grams of pseudoephedrine from being illegally purchased.

NPLEx serves as a vital tool in the collaboration between retailers and law enforcement officers as they track and stop the sale of medicines containing pseudoephedrine to potential meth criminals. NPLEx allows for the retailers to block the sale of PSE to those who criminally misuse the medicine, while ensuring that the consumers who need it most continue to have access to these safe and effective over-the-counter cold and allergy medicines.
